Pupils of elementary school "Gornja Varos" attend the promotion dress rehearsal

Students of the third grade of "Gornja Varos" elemntary school in Zemun, were guests today of the Military Academy attending the promotion ceremony dress rehearsal of the youngest officers of the Army of Serbia, who will be promoted into Lieutenants on Saturday. The third graders were watching the most interesting part of the program, the rehearsal of the parade, followed by a photograph and brief mingling with the future of the Serbian army lieutenants.

Vojin Trivanovi?, Aleksa Basic, Filip Todorovic, Nemanja Deki? are just some of the boys who were cheering and applauding male and female cadets during the march.

"We liked guns and uniforms best. I saw that there were girls and not only boys in the army. Are they real soldiers? "asked Vojin. Aleksa and Nemanja, were thrilled not only by the march and the commands that echoed on the plateau of the Military Academy but were also excited once they heard the national anthem.. Filip Todorovic, fully dressed in military camouflage colors and dazzled by the spectacle, just briefly said, "I want to be a soldier when I grow up".

The fact that the army is no longer just for the "boys" is best evidenced by the enthusiasm of the girls who go to "Gornja Varos" school, which watched carefully and with glee every movement of the cadets during their parade seeing for the first time SAF women officers.

"I like the uniforms the girls are wearing. They look very pretty in them. I wish I could wear the same uniform myself some day", said Katarina Cvetkovic. Their friends Jelena Sekulic and Tara Djuric also pictured themselves in uniforms when they grow up, while Kon?arevi? Marija, Diana Stakic and Miljan Jovanovic liked the music played by the orchestra best.

"This is the first time I have attended the event, even though our school is traditionally a guest of the Military Academy each year before the promotion of officers. For several months I have been listening about the promotion being a wonderful and big event, but only now that I have personally attended the rehearsal can I see the enthusiasm of my colleagues. These soldiers are something we should be proud of, because they represent the Serbian army in the best light "- said the Principal of “Gornja Varos" school Svetlana Lukic.

After the ceremonial parade, children were photographed with future lieutenants, on which occasion they asked many questions about life in the military. Students did not come to the rehearsal empty handed, so the male and female cadets were given cards and balloons to decorate themselves, and thus the upcoming ceremony was made even more beautiful. They in turn have shown to students how to salute, to stand at attention, and finally gave them their hats.
