Participants in "The World in Serbia" Project in the Armed Forces Club

Girls and boys from ten countries, members of the Non-Aligned Movement, who learned Serbian language within "The World in Serbia," project and who will soon began to study at the Belgrade Universit, visited the Armed Forces Club and visited an exhibition dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned countries.

- Thirty students who were the best in the test of the Serbian language came to have a look at the photos from the Conference. There are about a hundred of them in total and they are staying in the students resort on Avala. They and their colleagues from Serbia are currently participants in the project "Through Time and Serbia" aimed at educating young people about the Non-Aligned Movement. Besides touring of the exhibitions, there were lectures organized for the project participants on this subject in many Serbian cities - Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Kragujevac, Novi Pazar and Kosovska Mitrovica - Branka Kremenovic, project coordinator and member of the Student Conference of the Universities of Serbia, says.

Photos from the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Countries have already been presented to the public in the Armed Forces Club, and yesterday’s re-exposure was specially organized for the future freshmen of the Belgrade University, scholars from Ghana, Mali, Dominican Republic, Kenya, Burundi, Ecuador, Bangladesh and other member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. They have already spent one year in Belgrade, during which time they learned the Serbian language and from October they are going to start with the studies at one of the faculties of the Serbian capital.

David Kayomi from Kenya told us in fluent Serbian language that he feels comfortable in Serbia. He is a member of the first generation of scholars from the non-aligned countries who took part in the project of the Government entitled "The World in Serbia."

- We can talk in Serbian, we understand it all. We learned it about seven months. Many people in Kenya know almost everything about Yugoslavia, but there are few of them who know what Serbia is because they do not connect it with the former state union to which it belonged. We heard, of course, about the first summit of the non-aligned countries that took place here, as well as about the President Tito and now about your athletes – says Kayomi smiling.

The "The World in Serbia" programme is to be continued this year as well. The first generation consists of 85 scholars from 22 countries - Andorra, Burundi, Bangladesh, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Jamaica, Iran, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Palestine, Syria, Uganda, Tunisia ...
