Army extinguished fire near Kraljevo



Members of the 98th Air Brigade, the 2nd Army Brigade and the 890th mixed helicopter squadron managed, working together with firefighters and members of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Serbian Ministry of Interior, to extinguish the fire on the hill Cava near Kraljevo.

Army joined the action of extinguishing the fire which broke out around noon with three helicopters carrying in buckets 2 tons of water each. About 200 members of the Armed Forces and 60 firefighters from Kraljevo and the four surrounding cities were engaged in the field. Successful localization of fires prevented the greater impact on the surrounding houses in the village of Jovac military and commercial facilities.

Sasa Nikitovic, Deputy Commander of the 98th air brigade in La?evci says that members of the unit which is located in Nis, started with the helicopters with buckets and joined the action which ended late in the afternoon with the localization of fire.

The cause of the fire is probably the human factor. During the previous three days in the area of Kraljevo, Raska and Usce, 36 fires broke out in which 100 hectacres of forest were burned.
