General Miletic visits Bulgaria

Serbian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, General Miloje Miletic, is paying an official visit to Bulgaria. He met today with the Bulgarian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, General Simeon Simeonov, with whom he discussed the possibilities for further improvement of cooperation between the armed forces of Serbia and Bulgaria.

Generals Miletic and Simeonov have agreed that cooperation between the two armies is significant, especially when it comes to training and participation in joint exercises. In addition, the Serbian Armed Forces and the Bulgarian Army have good cooperation in the fields of codification, military history and geography.

"What we see as a room for further promotion of cooperation and what we can offer to our colleagues from Bulgaria, are the capacities of the base "South", the capacities for destroying surplus arms, education at our Defence University and cooperation in the field of military medicine. The possibility of training Bulgarian pilots on training simulators in Serbia", General Miletic said, adding that "promotion of defence cooperation with Bulgaria is a very important issue for Serbia, because it contributes to a better understanding in the region and the development of good neighbourly relations and friendship."

General Miletic met with Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, Anyu Angelov.

During the visit, the delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces will visit the Fourth Artillery Regiment in Asenovgrad and attend the joint air defence firings, at the firing range Shabla.

This remarkable firing exercise represents a continuation of successful cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Bulgarian Armed Forces. During the last year, live firing at air targets with AD missile systems was conducted, and this year the fighter aviation is also included in the joint firing exercise.
