Cooperation between Serbia and the Russian Federation in combating drug trafficking
Minister Sutanovac met with the Director of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation, Viktor Petrovic Ivanov.
Minister Sutanovac and Director Ivanov talked about the importance of good cooperation between Serbia and the Russian Federation in the combating drug trafficking, as well as the importance of such cooperation in combating organized crime and global terrorism, which are largely financed just from the proceeds of selling drugs. The meeting particularly emphasized the need to find the ways to jointly engage the capabilities of both police and the military in order to cut off drug smuggling routes.
Also, Minister Sutanovac and Director Ivanov exchanged views on the challenges and risks that drug trafficking entails for the security of states and citizens, especially in the Western Balkans. Together they concluded that these challenges cannot be independently responded by any country without a broader regional and global cooperation.
