In Odessa, Serbs, Croats, Slovenians, Czechs and other Austro-Hungarian subjects who did not want to be in the First World War fighting against the Serbian Army, formed the first Serbian Volunteer Division in 1916. Colonel Stevan Hadzic was appointed Commander of the Division .
