Second day of minister Sutanovac's visit to the USA



On the second day of his visit to the States, minister of defense Dragan Sutanovac talked with the Secretary of the Organization for Multidimensional Security of American states, Canadian Ambassador Adam Blackwell . Minister Sutanovac acquainted ambassador Blackwell with the new challenges Serbia is currently facing as regards the current tense situation in Kosovo and Metohija and Serbia’s attempts to find a solution peacefully and with diplomatic means in order to continue the dialogue with Pristina.

Both sides exchanged their respective views on the situation, such as public and personal security, cooperation of the army and the civil structures in response to asymmetrical terrorist threats and countering any kind of contraband or trafficking (human drug trafficking, and smuggling weapons). Ambassador Blackwell stressed that he appreciated greatly Serbia’s openness and readiness to cooperate with other regions in terms of security.
In his expose to the members of the US Atlantic Council, minister Sutanovac presented most prominent elements of defense reforms, and gave an overview of future development. The members of the Council, the representatives of the American administration, of NGOd and other think tanks estimated the professionalization of the armed forces of Serbia , emphasizing that what has been done can be ranked with the progress in much more developed defense systems in the world.
