Training OPCW medical experts at the MMA



Annex D-3 of the Technical Agreement between the Ministry of Defence of Serbia and OPCW Technical Secretariat, which organizes continuing training of staff at the Military Medical Academy was signed today thanks to successful cooperation and the important support that the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense have been providing to the activities of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. According to the Annex D-3 of the Technical Agreement training of the representatives of the OPCW Inspectorate is planned to be conducted at the Academy in 2011. The agreement was signed by the Permanent Military Representative in the office of the Republic of Serbia to the OPCW in The Hague colonel prof. Zoran Segrt and director of the OPCW Directorate Julian Tangier.

In the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade from October to December 2011, education of medical professionals of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will be continued. During a new cycle of education, representatives of the OPCW will improve practical skills in early diagnosis, first aid and pre-hospital treatment of acutely poisoned, injured and sick, to be prepared for the challenges in carrying out the mission during chemical weapons inspections worldwide.

Implementation of these aspects of education shows the continuity of the successful cooperation of Serbia with the OPCW in the implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction, and represents another in a series of activities in this area contribute to the promotion of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia internationally.
