LTG Dikovic visits participants of Rapid Trident

Commander of the Serbian Land Forces Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovi? visited today the Serbian Army units participating in the international exercise "Rapid Trident-2011" in Ukraine. At “Javorov” training grounds where the exercise is held , a day for guests and media was organized. Around 1,600 participants from 14 partner countries, are demonstrating their tactical procedures forces engaged in peacekeeping missions and operations apply to enforce peace.

The exercise began with the landing of multinational assault, among which were two teams from our 63rd Parachute Battalion of the Special Brigade. Jumps from a plane IL-76 and C-130 "Hercules" and eliminating illegal armed formations proved what excellent skills over 200 paratroopers possessed.

Members of the 21st Infantry platoon of the Second Brigade infantry battalion applied routine procedures to rescue the injured from armored vehicles hit in combat and provided aerial transport to the wounded. Finding and disarming illegal armed formations, demonstrated the way a United Nations checkpoint works, and were engaged in demining areas, while also showing skills in decontamination of personnel and technology.

In carrying out different activities, the participants used individual weapons systems - (IWS MAILS) which record all casualties and hit targets in the combat shooting thus giving a realistic picture of individual and unit proficiency.

- Joint training of soldiers from 14 PfP signatories is important for us because that way we can examine the capabilities and preparedness of our soldiers, so our supreme commanders can see what they should focus on in training, to counter modern security challenges - said General Dikovic after exercise, and he was proud to see our flag among the flags of other countries.

Exercise "Rapid Trident-2011" is held with a view of promoting regional stability and security, as well as strengthening the international military partnership and trust among countries, and improve interoperability of the countries that participate in it.
