Deputy SAF CHOD meets with KFOR deputy commander



Deputy Chief of Staff of the Serbian Army Maj. Gen. Milan Bjelica spoke today at the Nis airport with a military deputy commander of KFOR Brigadier General Marco Serona.

This was a high level meeting held urgently between the Joint Commission for Military-Technical Agreement Implementation, made up of the members of commissions Command of KFOR and the representatives of the security forces of the Republic of Serbia.

The two generals exchanged views on the general security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and in the Ground Safety Zone, in the light of recent events on the administrative border crossings "Rudnica" and "Tabalije".

Deputy Commander of KFOR informed General Bjelica of the activities undertaken by KFOR to normalize the situation in northern Kosovo and Metohija and to ensure peace and security throughout Kosovo and Metohija.

On that occasion, General Serona said that KFOR was ready and determined to carry out their respective tasks in maintaining peace and safety, while emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the Serbian Army and KFOR to prevent destabilization of the situation along the administrative border with Kosovo and Metohija.

Deputy SAF CHOD General Bijelica was informed General Serona provides enhanced administrative line and is following closely developments in the field.

Voicing his expectation that KFOR would remain neutral, general Bjelica said that violence was unacceptable and that the Serbian Army remained committed to finding peaceful way to resolve the Kosovo issue.
