Seminar "Summer School for Teachers of English»



Summer School for Teachers of English from the Self-Access Centres (SAC) is organized by the Ministry of Defence Human Resources Sector Personnel Department PELT Directorate and the British Council in Belgrade, with the financial support of the Kingdom of Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Sweden, in Morovic, from 12 to 15 July.

The aim of the seminar is to methodical and professional preparation of English language teachers in adopting new teaching methods (Task-based learning) for more efficient utilisation of the centres in developing operational capabilities of semi-intensive students of English language courses as part of SAF training cycle for the testing according to STANAG 6001.

Participants in the seminar within the workshop which simulates working in centres, improve their teaching in the field of military terminology through the methodology of distance learning and they exchange tests and materials through communication between the centres.

The seminar gathers eleven teachers from English learning centres from the garrisons of the Serbian Armed Forces – Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Vranje, Kraljevo, Pancevo, Pozarevac, Batajnica, Krusevac and Zajecar.

On the basis of cooperation in the PELT project, lectures at the seminar are realized by the British Council in Belgrade with a teacher from the UK, an expert in the field of SAC English language training for members of the armed forces. Lecturer Claire Whitaker is a qualified PEP (Peacekeeping English Project) Manager from the British Council.
