Solidarity for Irena Paunovic from Kraljevo

Representatives of the Second Brigade have presented today the first part of the collected money to help severely ill Irena Paunovic from Kraljevo, which needs 120,000 euros for treatment and operation in Austria. The action continues and soon the Armed Forces Club in Kraljevo will organize a charity concert of dance clubs from which all proceeds will go for Irena's treatment.

Presenting the financial assistance, the Chief of Staff of the Second Brigade Colonel Slobodan Stopa wished Irena recovery and expressed his hope that the required amount will be collected on time.

Irena Paunovic thanked the members of the Armed Forces for the assistance. "It means a lot to me that you are with me in the most difficult moments and I hope that together we will get my healing", said Irena, whose left lung was removed due to chronic obstructive lung disease – bronchiectasis when she was eight. Since then, it has been 35 years that this brave Kraljevo resident lives with only one lung, but, unfortunately, five years ago it began to fail. Therefore, Irena is day and night connected to a bottle of oxygen. Medical advice suggests that the only hope is transplantation as soon as possible.

During his recent visit to the garrison in Kraljevo, Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac visited Irena Paunovic and promised that the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in Kraljevo will run charity campaign to raise funds for her treatment and would do their utmost to expand the humanitarian action.

Those who decide to help Irena Paunovic may pay their financial contributions to the dinar account in "Banca Intesa" 908-16001-87 referencing the number 53-102-0005612/1.
