The Day of the Second Brigade marked



In Kraljevo barracks "Ribnica" a ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the Second Army Brigade – 12 July was held today to commemorate the famous Battle of Karanovac.


The ceremony was attended by the Army Commander Lieutenant-General Ljubisa Dikovic, local government representatives, led by the chief of Raska administrative district Mateja Mijatovic, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Kraljevo Police Department, schools, organizations, associations and companies from Kraljevo.

General Dikovi? congratulated the members of the Second Brigade on the holiday and said that the Army and the Second Brigade in its ranks realised during the past year all the tasks in the reform of the Serbian Armed Forces, carried out numerous live fire tactical training exercises, trained units to participate in multinational operations, trained a number of officers abroad and assisted the population in accidents that have befallen them. He stressed that this year the reform of the Serbian Armed Forces will continue based on the traditions of the Serbian army and that the Armed Forces will be dimensioned so that it can respond to all security challenges.

Chief of Raska Administrative Region Mateja Mijatovic particularly thanked the members of the Second Brigade for everything they have done in eliminating the consequences of the devastating earthquake in Kraljevo and floods in Novi Pazar.

Brigadier General Dusan Stojanovic, the Second Brigade Commander, said that in the previous period a successful cooperation has been developed with local authorities, cultural and educational institutions and religious communities throughout the territory of dislocation of units of the Second Brigade. He recalled that the members of the Second Brigade assisted the citizens of Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Sjenica and Ljubovija in eliminating the consequences of earthquakes and floods.

During the ceremony, the guests looked at static display of weapons, techniques and equipment of the Second Brigade, saw the parade of units, as well as performances of cultural artistic societies "Abraševi?" from Kraljevo and "Sandzak" from Novi Pazar.

Members of the Second Brigade received congratulations sent by the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, while the Army Commander awarded Captain Ivan Novicic, warrant officer Goran Raja?i? and professional soldier Milan Antonic.

Plaques were awarded to the best company, section, guard service and the best driver. Best company is the Reconnaissance Company of the 20th Command Battalion, the best section is the First Reconnaissance Section from the composition of the 21st Infantry Battalion, the best guard service is the guard service of the "4th Regiment" Barracks from Uzice and the best driver is corporal Goran Pajovic.

As a part of marking the Day of the Second Brigade, last night the Guard drill and concert of Guard Representative Orchestra were performed for the citizens of Kraljevo.
