Serbia ranked fourth in the world in terms of transparency of data on arms exports
Based on the analysis of an independent research project 2010 Small Arms Survey on the transparency of data on exports of small arms and light weapons, Serbia is ranked fourth in the world, behind Switzerland, Great Britain and Germany.
The analysis took into account the national reports on the export of small arms and light weapons. The Transparency Barometer uses the following seven evaluation criteria: timeliness, access and consistency, clarity, comprehensiveness in reporting, as well as the details relating to the deliveries of arms, and licences granted and licences denied.
Out of a total of 25 points, Serbia won 18.5 while Switzerland was at the top of the list with 21 points. The analysis included countries that have exported small arms and light weapons of a value greater than USD 10 million on at least one occasion since 2001.
The Small Arms Survey is an independent research project conducted at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and is a leading international source of public information on all aspects of small arms and light weapons. (PDF, 50 KB)
