Preparations for participation in the 5th World Military Games in Brazil



Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces are preparing for participation in the 5th World Military Games to be held in Brazil, from 16 to 24 July, in the terrains of the 51st Ski Training Ground in Kopaonik, the Military Academy and the training ground of the 63rd Parachute Battalion.


Members of the Armed Forces of Slovenia and Montenegro are also participating in the work of camps in Kopaonik and the Military Academy.

Members of the Armed Forces of Serbia and Slovenia are preparing for competitions in orienteering and marathon in the area of 51st Kopaonik Ski Training Ground. The camp managers are Colonel Dragan Djini, Head of the Division for Military Sports and Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Todorov, a desk officer for military sports, while those who are in charge of specific disciplines are civilian Mladen Coric, for orienteering, and Staff Sergeant Goran Cegar, for marathon.

In the Military Academy, preparations for the competitions in athletics, shooting and judo are underway. Apart from the members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the members of the Montenegrin Armed Forces are also participating in the work with our judo players. Camp managers at the Military Academy are Colonel Mitja Grgic, civilian Branko Rašovi?, and a teacher of physical education Stevan Grujic, all from the Department of Physical Education at the Military Academy. The Parachuting Team of MoD and SAF is being prepared in Nis.

"Joint training camp of the armed forces of Serbia and Slovenia, for competitors in orienteering and marathon, is vital for improving the physical fitness of the competitors. Conditions in Kopaonik at the 51st Ski Training Ground are exceptional. The complete composition of our team is extremely satisfied with hospitality and joint work with the athletes of the Serbian Armed Forces", the team leader of the Slovenian armed forces Matjaz Vrhunc said .

Head of the Serbian Delegation at the 5th World Military Games will be the State Secretary Zoran Jevtic. Serbian military athletes will compete in track-and-field, parachuting, shooting, orienteering and judo. Participation of about 5,000 athletes from more than 100 countries is expected. The Opening Ceremony will be on Saturday, 16 July and the Closing Ceremony will be on Sunday, 24 July.
