Minister Sutanovac visited the Military Technical Institute



Minister Sutanovac visited the Military Technical Institute in Zarkovo today, the institution of the Ministry of Defence and the largest military scientific research institution in the Republic of Serbia, which devises and develops new weaponry and military equipment while modernizing existing ones.

After talking with employees and the newly admitted engineers of VTI, the Minister visited the display of weapons and military equipment that will be exhibited at the upcoming fair "Partner 2011", along with the trisonic wind tunnel, the testing of which is testing aircraft models at high speeds.

Congratulating the employees of the Military Technical Institute on successful achievements in recent years, Sutanovac said that the defense industry had become one of the most important and most promising industries.

"Our main wish is to further raise the level of technical knowledge and technological base to a considerable level, which is crucial for the further development of the defense industry. In order for the Military Technical Institute to continue to operate successfully, the Ministry of Defence will continue to make further investments, as Minister of Defence emphasized highlighting the significant investments were last made two decades ago, however since 2007, thanks to a tenfold rise of investments made by the Ministry of Defence, the exports of arms and military equipment had increased tenfold.

"Our goal is to continue to invest in the IT equipment and projects to be implemented by SAF. It is important to make a link between the Military Technical Institute with the defense industry and placing realized projects in foreign markets, where the upcoming Fair of arms and military equipment "Partner in 2011" will play an important role, as the minister underlined.

According to him, the Ministry of Defence will continue rejuvenating the teaching and research staff, and will be focused on securing and training of professionals in the country and abroad. The Military Technical Institute has recently admitted 39 young professionals, and this year another 40 vacancies will be open.

Establishing cooperation and experience exchange programs between the VTI and all universities will enable the development of defense and industry in general, is one of the most important tasks of the Ministry of Defence, as Sutanovac pointed out.

Sutanovac presented military medals for outstanding contribution to the defense to three employees in the Military Technical Institute.

The director of the Military Technical Institute, Colonel Zoran Rajic spoke about the activities of the institute, as well as new research projects and modernization in the field of armaments and military equipment. He also emphasized the importance of recent investments in the VTI, which have restored the Institute’s glory and placed it on a path to success. In his address, Colonel Rajic also discussed the most important results of this instituion, which will be presented at the upcoming Fair of weapons and military equipment "Partner 2011", as well as future projects of this institute.

Colonel Zoran Rajic, at the end of the speech, on behalf of VTI, presented Minister Sutanovac with the model of aircraft "Lasta".

During today's visit, the guests had the opportunity to see the performance of unmanned air crafts, "Vrabac," which flew over the Institute VTI.

More than 75 percent of our military weapons developed have been developed at the VTI-in, and produced in local factories. The Institute has 22 laboratories some of which are among the most rare in the world, and others are unique in this part of Europe. Spanning the area of 86 acres and 177,000 square meters in laboratory and offices, In their work, VTI specialists implement a quality management system according to the ISO 9001 and ISO / IEC 17025 standards.

The trisonic air tunnel T-38, which has recently been renovated, is a unique facility in the VTI, which has enormous potential and opportunities. It is not only the most important air tunnel installation at the institute, but several similar ones exist in the world and is therefore of great international importance. The technical specification of the aero tunnel was made by experts of the Military Aero Technical Institute - Zarkovo and the Military Technical Institute - Belgrade. From the beginning till today, more than 10,000 tests on more than 70 models of rockets, missiles, aircraft, various types of bombs for the military first in the SFRY and the FRY, later Serbia, and for a large number of foreign clients.
