The success of military sailplane pilots on the 13th Zoran's regatta



Announcement of the winners in all three classes has concluded today the 13th Memorial Sailing Regatta "Zoran Radosavljevic", dedicated to the sailplane pilot and the fighter plane pilot of elite 127th Air Force squadron of the Yugoslav Armed Forces, who died on 26th March 1999, while defending the airspace of the country.

The sailing team of the Military Academy have made a notable result by winning the 1st and 3rd place in ''cruiser" sailing class. The crew of these sailing planes was composed of cadets of the Military Academy and professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces.

The regatta was organized by ''Regatta Zoran Radosavljevic'' Association, in cooperation with the Serbian Sailing Association and "Zemun" Sailing Club from Belgrade with the support and patronage of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia and the Belgrade City.

In two days of sailing in front of Zemun and on the Sava Lake in Belgrade, Zoran's regatta brought together 62 boats with about 120 competitors.

In the class of "cruiser", the first to arrive on the goal was boat "Red" driven by Gordi Novcic, while the most successful of boats in class M-550 ''micro'' was the boat Leposava with steerman Dragan Vasilijevic. In the class of units ''optimist'' with participation of the youngest contestants – children up to 14 years, the victory was won by Ivona Kosor.

From the very beginning, the Memorial Regatta ''Zoran Radosavljevic'' has taken place with the full support of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. This year, in addition to the assistance in organisation, the River Flotilla boat was a race boat in the competition, with participation of 15 cadets who competed within the sailing crews.

Zoran's Regatta is the biggest sailing event in our rivers. Considering the importance of the competition, the event is classified among the events of importance to the City of Belgrade.
