Open Day at the Nis military airport



Gates of the Nis military airport were wide open today to numerous visitors of the Open Day event. Host of the event was the 161st battalion for security of the Nis airport and the organizer was the 98th Air Brigade.

Visitors had opportunity to see for the first time in one place the aircraft, weapons and equipment of all units based in Nis. Besides the 98th Air Brigade, the members of the 230th Air Defence Self-Propelled Missile Battalion, 63rd Parachute Battalion, 3rd Army Brigade, 3rd Military Police Battalion and 21st Signal Battalion participated in the Open Day event.

In the first part of the program, parachutists and military police officers showed their skills and demonstrated practical use of martial arts, while soldiers from the 63rd Battalion performed a demo jump and landing. Antiterrorist military police unit showed descending from a helicopter down the ropes. Pilots from Nis and Kraljevo flew over Nis and demonstrated fire-fighting using Mi-8 helicopter with bucket and descending antiterrorist teams.

Traditionally, pupils and students were those who were the most interested for the Open Day, and some of them see their future in one of the units of the Serbian Armed Forces.

During the entire event, the memorial rooms of Serbian aviation and 63rd Parachute Battalion were opened for guests.
