Seminar on search and rescue

The search and rescue seminar was held today in the House of Guards in Topcider in the organization of the Ministry of Defense, Danish Air Force Tactical Command and the RACVIAC Center for Security Cooperation.

The meeting was opened by State Secretary dr Zoran Jeftic in MoD.

This seminar is very important in terms of exchanging ideas and information and establishing contact, not only for Serbia but for the entire region. In the last two years we have done enough on reorganizing our system with the support of our friends from Denmark. We managed to expand our capacities and now we are ready for activities in search and rescue, as Jeftic said.

This conference aims at stressing the importance of aeronautical search and rescue activities and its detailed study. The participants of the lecture studied the importance of the role of governmental and non-governmental institutions in these processes, functions and duties of the search and rescue coordination bodies, as well as international cooperation of countries in this area.

Unfortunately, in recent times we see that the Search and Rescue Service is becoming more and more important due to ever more frequent natural disasters as they call for engagement of al available capacities which usually go beyond the national level. The basic purpose of this service and its task is to locate the site and determine the cause of accident or disaster, to provide adequate first aid, to locate and transport the casualties to the appropriate centers as well as salvaging property and goods, as Colonel Dusko Zarkovic, Head of the SAF air force HQ said.

The seminar was attended by the ambassador of Denmark to Serbia Mete Kjuel Nielsen, state secretary Igor Jovicic and the representatives of the regional countries-Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia, turkey and Croatia.
