Course on defense management in broader security environment



Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence Prof. Dr. Tanja Miscevic opened the fourth cycle of a two-week regional course "Management of defense in the broader security environment" which is being held at the Hotel Country Club Babe", in the vicinity of Sopot.

The course is traditionally organized once a year in cooperation with the Institute for Strategic Research, defense Policy Sector, Cranfield University and Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. The seminar which is held the fourth time participating representatives of the defense system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro and members of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia

In her welcome to the participants of the course, Secretary of State stressed the importance of acquiring new knowledge and establishing a network of personal contacts of professionals from neighboring countries that can serve as a basis for long-term exchange of experience, in order to improve the quality of their own and work the system from which they come.

The topics considered at the course will be advanced methods of identifying appropriate policies, principles and techniques that can contribute to the improvement of the defense sector as an integral part of a wider security sector. The purpose of the course is to expand knowledge, understanding of professional and analytical skills of participants, needed to improve or transform the management of the defense system and security.

British Defence Attaché in the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Nigel Fen and Course Director, B. A. Dr Laura Cleary of Cranfield University reminded the present of the positive experience in organizing courses for members of the MOD and SAF in previous years, expressing his satisfaction with this year's response of representatives of other countries in the region. They also stressed that the Ministry of Defence of Great Britain has organized similar programs in many countries, but that the goal of course is not to prescribe particular form of reform, but to analyze experiences of the present parties, which is very important in the interaction of students.
