Military museum-the most successful in 2010



At a special session of the Museum Association of Serbia, held at the Museum of Yugoslav History, the Military Museum in Belgrade was awarded "Mihjlo Valtrovic" as the most successful museum institution in the past year.

In the opinion of the awards Committee said that the Military Museum from January to December last year has achieved great results, which has made significant contribution to the development of culture of Serbia.

Upon receiving the award, Chief of the Military Museum Colonel Miroslav Knezevic said that the Military Museum, has over 133 years of its existence invested hard work on the acquisition, preservation, presentation and exhibition of museum objects from military and national traditions, makes multiple efforts to close the public past of the people he belongs.

-The military museum now has more of 33 000 museum items, grouped into 13 collections, with over 100 000 negatives and photographs, a special library with more than 15 000 books and about six thousand journals. In addition to regular efforts to collect and protect museum objects, in 2010, several exhibition settings werearranged, such as the exhibition of infantry automatic weapon of World War II, "" The Charter and diplomas from the collection of the Military Museum "," 160 Years of the Military Academy "," the Guard of Serbia "and several visiting exhibitions in Serbian cities.

In addition to awards for best museum institution in the past year, the Assembly of the Museum Society of Serbia granted two individual awards – for a Lifetime Achievement Award and The Most Valuable Work in 2010.
