International Military Championship in Mountain Running ends



In Dimitovgrad the International Military championship in mountain running "VIA Militaris Mountain Running Challenge Cup" and other Serbian championship in mountain running ended yesterday. On mountain 4, 8 and 12 km long slopes near Dimitrovgrad, 40 military athletes from Serbia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia, and 120 athletes from local clubs took part n the Championship.

Our team had achieved excellent results within the International Military Championship, and the best were awarded trophies and other awards.

The men's team from Romania came in first, the second place went to Serbia, third place went to Bosnia and Herzegovina, while among individuals the Romanian representative Marcel Laza was the winner.

Members of the women’s team from the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia were the best in the women's team competition came in just before the teams from Macedonia and Romania.

Romania's national team and the participant of the Olympic Games in Beijing, Mihaela Botežan won the individual competition as had been expected.

A professional soldier Bubnjevi? Ksenija and cadet Jovanovic Nevena achieved outstanding results which had enabled them to become part of the Serbian national team for the upcoming championship Balkan mountain running, which will be held from 10 to 13 June in Dimitrovgrad, co-organized by the Ministry of Defence.

International Military Championships and the Second Serbian Championship in mountain running has been successfully organized by the Serbian delegation with the International Council for Military Sports CISM, the Athletic Federation of Serbia and Dimitrovgrad municipality
