Aleksandar and Aleksandra-a wedding to remember

As of today, two young people will be very economical in signing their names, as they will use the exact same first name letters. Aleksandra and Aleksandar Tomovic, both members of the SAF, said "yes" in a collective wedding ceremony in front of Belgrade City Council, in the traditional event " A Wedding to Remember."

While most of 200 couples were dressed in a classic combination – men were dressed in black suits, women in white wedding dresses, the heroes of our story stood out from this cliche. Alexander's suit was white - a ceremonial uniforms of the Serbian River Flotilla, and Alexander was also in white.

Is there a better suit for this ceremony than a military uniform? We always run away from the classic stuff, so we wanted our wedding to be the exception. We also wanted to promote the Serbian Armed Forces, since this event garners media coverage - said Sergeant Aleksandar Tomovic, who works at the Center for NCOs Training in Pancevo.

The wedding procession stretched for up to the middle of Kosovska Street. More than 400 spouses started from there towards the City Council. The procession was “under the command” of Aleksandar and Aleksandra, who led the procession.

For a moment the traffic in Devanska Street, came to a halt as the newly weds had the right of passage. This was on their wedding day, and to the question who will be the “commander” in their home in the future, the Tomovics responded:

- That with a higher rank will command-said Aleksandar cunningly, while corporal Aleksandra had a different view – At home there is no room for ranks and outranking - she concluded.

The bachelor’s party wasn’t ordinary, either- as the groom decided to break away from the cliché and decided to say goodbye to his bachelor’s life on Friday 13

Aleksandar was wise enough to “collect information” about Aleksandra from her colleagues in the 25th Guard Military Police Battalion, where she has been posted as of December 2009. He heard that she was a professional, and the fact that she won the second place in sport shooting competition proves this. However, he chose her because of other qualities, because he had known her before she started wearing uniform. Aleksandra graduated from the Academy for Pedagogy, and as he has always been fond of asking questions to teachers, it was two years when a common friend introduced the pair. Aleksandra, her maiden name Zivkovic, is originally from Grdelica and Aleksandar from Priboj.

Once these 200 pairs, shouted “ay” and danced their first dance as a wedded couple, Tomovics again stopped traffic and led the procession towards the old quarters of Belgrade Skadarlija, where in Bohemian setting they celebrated this day. They plan to soon become man and wife before God in a church wedding and to spend their honeymoon in Ohrid.
