Trainining for the implemntation of the financial management system
In the House of Guards in Topcider a training for the implementation of financial management and control of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces was held yesterday. Members of the Working Group of the Ministry of Defense for establishing and developing this system, attended the lecture of the Sector of the Central Harmonization Unit of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia. The meeting was attended by Goran Cvejic, Deputy Minister of Finance. - This session is actually raising awareness about the need to introduce financial management and control of the Ministry of Defence. I'm fascinated by today's visit and the response, indicating that the commitment in this area is very clear. After all the very law obliges us to do so. The introduction of this system goes in parallel on two levels - the management structures that should be the initiators of this action, as well as those who will carry out practical tasks in the field - said Cvejic.
At the start of the meeting, participants were greeted by Colonel Sasa Trandafilovic, MA Chief of the Budget Division of Budget and Finance Department, MoD. He told the participants of the current and future activities in this area. He also recalled the fact that the system of internal control at the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia have been fairly well developed and that it is necessary to make its adjustment and upgrade. During the training, participants discussed a number of important issues in this area - the essence and goals of establishing a system of financial management and control of its elements, as well as procedures for its implementation, and monitoring, evaluation and development.
- We will organize another training of this type for raising awareness in this area, and then proceed to the process of implementation – as will put all the rules and regulations into practice. We expect that after a period of two years the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army will be fully prepared in this area - said Goran Cvejic.
At the end of the meeting, participants were addressed by Srbislav Cvejic, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Budget and Finance, who is also in charge of financial management and control of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army. - I would particularly like to emphasize the importance of establishing and development of financial management and control at all levels of leadership, expecting that we will intensify its implementation in the future too, so that as soon as possible we can identify all potential risks and provide appropriate mechanisms for their removal - said Srbislav Cvejic.
