Marking 196 years since the start of II Serbian Uprising



At the memorial erected in to mark the start of the Second Serbian Uprising in Takovo near Gornji Milanovac, Deputy Prime minister and the Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic laid a wreath on behalf of the Government of Serbia, along with the wreaths laid by the Ministry of Defense, of Moravicki District, of the Gornji Milanovac municipality and other institutions and organizations.

- Modern Serbia is committed to living in peace and harmony with its neighbouring countries and other European nations and states, while also being able to build and govern Serbia as a legal state, as minister Dacic stated during the ceremony marking 196 years since the start of the Second Serbian uprising. He also remarked that Serbia was fully committed to preserving the memory of all the participants and victims of the especially those who laid their lives during the I and II Serbian Uprisings when the foundations of the modern Serbian state were laid.

Free of the burden of the past, we look with a bright eye to the future, which will surely bring accession to the EU, as one of the main goals of the political and intellectual elite in previous centuries, as Dacic concluded at the ceremony held in Takovo, where Knez Milos Obrenovic started the II Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire.
