Concert of ''Stanislav Bini?ki'' Art Ensemble and the U.S. Army Europe Band



Joint concert of the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence "Stanislav Bini?ki" and the US Army Europe Band has been held tonight in the Ceremonial Hall of the House of the Serbian Armed Forces.

The concert was attended by Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac and U.S. Ambassador to Belgrade Mary Warlick, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, military diplomatic corps and numerous guests from cultural and public life of the capital.

According to Mr Major Igor Mitrovic, Chief of the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence "Stanislav Bini?ki," tonight's concert is the first in a series of joint appearances of military orchestras of Serbia and the U.S., and it has been planned that they perform also in May on big concerts in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis. He pointed out that the reason for the joint appearance is 130 years of establishing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Brass quintets of the US Army Europe band, which was established back in 1940, are part of the band and choir of U.S.Army Europe, and they are musical ambassadors of the United States in Europe, Colonel Beth Style, the head of the U.S. Army band and its conductor, said.

Belgrade audience had an opportunity tonight to enjoy in the music of the U.S. Army in Europe band, which first performed independently the deeds of Strauss, Gershwin, Bernstein, Handel and other classics, and later in the evening, with colleagues from the Orchestra "Stanislav Bini?ki" played Serbian military marches and few classic domestic and foreign songs.

Wind Quintet, as a part of the US Army Europe band are located in Heidelberg, Germany, and are the largest military bands outside the United States.
