Awards to the safest drivers in MoD and SAF



At the constitutional session of the Security Council of military participants in traffic, the Department for Material Resources of the Ministry of Defence, on 3 March proclaimed the safest drivers in MoD and SAF in 2010

This flattering award was awarded to the first class sergeant from the 65th Logistic Battalion of the Military Academy, Ljubisa Milosevic who committed no traffic violations and accidents and covered some 41,133 miles, while Corporal of the 2nd storage battalions Zivota Jerinic of the Central Logistics Base who drove 48,869 miles and a civilian Slavisa Krstic from the Army command HQ troops who crossed the 71,401 kilometers.

The session, chaired by Assistant Minister for Material Resources Ilija Pilipovic, was also attended by Chief of the General Logistics Department with the Material Resources Sector Brigadier General Dr. Srdjan Novakovic, commander of the Central Logistics Base, Brigadier General Goran Zekovic, the representatives of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs , the Agency for the Traffic Safety of the Serbian Government of the Faculty of Transportation, of Belgrade University and the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.

At the meeting the participants analyzed the safety of military traffic and the road safety situation in the Republic of Serbia. It was concluded that, despite the complex traffic conditions in 2010 there was drop in the accidents of military vehicles, but the consequences, however, were graver.

On average, every 230 thousand kilometers an accident involving a military vehicle occurred , which is more favorable than in the previous period. The shows only 12.9 percent are within the projected life span of 20 years, which was a topic that was given special consideration regarding road safety.

The awards were presented by the Assistant Minister for Material Resources Ilija Pilipovicas well as prizes in money.
