At the exercise "Usce 2011" tens of thousands of citizens and guests saw segments of training and operations of all branches and services of the Army of Serbia. The public were first shown the unit participating in peacekeeping missions of the United Nations - Motorized Infantry Company, a platoon of NBC protection and military police who engage in monitoring the convoy.
On occasion of the National Day and the Day of SAF, President Boris Tadic awarded Major Slobodan Jocic pilot and lieutenant Dejan Milosavljevic gold or silver medal for bravery "Obilih", with another six members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and two other citizens who through their courage and devotion earned these high honors.Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Chief of Staff Gen Miletic Miloje hosted a reception in the Great War Hall of the old General HQ to celebrate 15th February – the Day of the Serbian Army.
In an interview to Odbrana Lieutenant General Aleksandar Zivkovic, Commander of the Training Command, said that the criteria that for the candidates for professional soldiers are strict but not strict enough. Only those who always do their best will be considered
as good professional soldiers. An average performer has no place in the system.
In the traditional selection of "Businessmen and companies" that marked the year, and on the ten years of the event, the panel of judges of the Club of Economic Journalists of Serbia has awarded the Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac a Gold Medal for the development of defense industry.

Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic and director of the Building Directorate of Serbia Dragan Grujic visited the site in the area of Vozdovac barracks “Stepa Stepanovic”, where the construction of 1,450 apartments out 5,000 planned started.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic and Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac presented the annual award for best scientific project, PhD thesis, master thesis and awards in Vojno delo.
In the ceremonial hall of the Serbian Army a monograph "The Serbian Armed Forces", by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Zoran Vesic and Dusan Babac was launched. Between the covers of books historical facts and information on the Army of Serbia today were compiled. The monograph was created to present the key organizational changes in the defense system in the professionalization of our armed forces.
The National Day and the Day of the Army of Serbia were marked in Novi Sad by setting up an exhibition "Tracing the Principality and the Kingdom of Serbia”, and in the Central Militray House “Serbian rulers and commanders”
The main topic of this issue is the new Regulation on the evaluation of professional military personnel. The period of evaluation will be twice as short. Instead of six – professional soldiers will have to meet nine criteria. Subjectivity in evaluating work of subordinates will be limited to a minimum.
By celebrating the Day of Service - 21 February, the IT Department of Defense and the Army of Serbia have a lot to be proud of. The development of new information systems, qualitative and quantitative improvement of Internet hosting, updating computer hardware and software, and constantly improving knowledge and skills, marked the last year in the development of information technology in the U.S..
The dust raised by protesters on the squares and streets of Tunis, Egypt and Yemen, will be clouded by the dilemma where the Arab countries of the world are heading? Only in time will it be possible to identify what kind of social turmoil led to outbreak of such violence and protests of so many previously silent masses in the streets, who is behind this, if these protests are spontaneous at all, or someone has incited these political change in countries that seem to have remained petrified under the regimes of aging leaders.
To mark the upcoming Day of the Serbian Army, in the ceremonial hall of the army in Belgrade the concert "Our children" was organized where the children of military personnel , accompanied by the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence "Stanislav Bini?ki", performed many compositions.
"The roads to the image" made the cold winter days more beautiful for the citizens of Belgrade, all this as emphasized in the book of impressions where the visitors wrote that they were proud to belong to "Save Šumanovic” people" and that they inspired by his Vojvodina plains.
The Guard Representative Orchestra was a guest in Germany. By quality they rub shoulders with the world's orchestras, and we hope that in future we will have more opportunities to present the Serbian music tradition to foreigners- says the Guard Representative Orchestra conductor Lt. Alexander ?urov.
There are ongoing preparations for the World Military Skiing Championship on Kopaonik. If we compare with competitors from other countries who are only soldiers, it would not be presumptuous of us to believe in success - explains the State Secretary of Ministry of Defence Zoran Jeftic. It is difficult to imagine that we can repeat last year's success, but we hope to achieve good results - added the coach of Ministry and the Army in skiing Gojko Petrovic.
