Lieutenant General Miloje Miletic, Chief of General Staff, in his interview on the occasion of the National Day and the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, said that in every professional army the profession comes above any particular and personal interests. This is the essence of professionalism, and when it comes to the essence – there may be no compromise! We often have a superficial and incorrect understanding of the concept of democratic civilian control of the military. This does not mean that the Serbian Armed Forces has allowed the daily politics to influence its structure. On the contrary, the Serbian Armed Forces is depoliticized. On the one hand, the autonomy of the military profession has been established in relation to political power in the society, and on the other hand, the fact is that the Armed Forces is an institution that is not intended to be involved in politics.

The fifth international fair of arms and military equipment "Partner 2011" will be held at Belgrade Fair from 28 June to 1 July 2011. Sponsor of the event is the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, co-organiser is Jugoimport-SDPR, and the executive organiser is the Belgrade Fair.

The Day of the Media Center ODBRANA, 24 January, was marked. The process of reorganisation and rationalisation of the Ministry of Defence included the completion of the process of integrating the news and information and publishing activities in the defence system, said Lieutenant Slavoljub Markovic, the Director, adding that this move functionally linked the available human and material resources.

Military Academy cadets Sandra Radovanovic and Aleksandar Živak have recently flew independently at the Batajnica military airport in a Supergaleb G-4 jet fighter school aircraft.

Another training course for professional soldiers in the 63rd parachute battalion has been completed. The data shows that it is not easy to become a professional soldier in the Serbian Armed Forces and that the competition among special units is fierce. After a strict health and security checks, the candidates are to face with the demanding and exhausting parachute training.

National and international security may be faced with an unexpected form of threat – the terrorist organizations and movements around the world might start using their weapons of mass destruction. This fact is what motivates members of the Krusevac CBRN units to continue to enhance their operational capabilities and develop concepts to respond to various accidents and incidents in peace and war, which would provide a modest, but no insignificant contribution to local, regional and world peace and stability.

Mirjana Barac and Svetlana Sakic, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, confirmed that women can successfully fulfil the tasks and duties of soldiers. Together with their female colleagues they are clearing the way for the full equality of women in, until recently, a man's world.

One of the most important factors for the future of the world is energy resources. This is particularly important given that the world is entering a period of rising deficits and demand for the major energy products. Therefore, the analysis of anticipating the developments in consumption and production of oil and gas in the world is important to discover the causal mechanism of geopolitics development in the decades to come.

After its first flight, the Chinese fighter became a media sensation because it raises the issue of global relations, for which it is not irrelevant whether China will soon have not only a mass military force, but also a modern one.

On the eve of marking the jubilee – 60th anniversary of the establishment and publishing of its first issue, the first electronic edition of the Vojnotehnicki glasnik (Military Technical Herald) was published on the Internet, at www.vtg.mod.gov.rs.

Engagement in marksmanship at the Military Academy falls among the extracurricular activities. When we finish our work, we go to the training and build our success with enthusiasm – says Colonel Mitja Grgic, the coach of the most successful sports team in the Serbian Armed Forces in 2010, the Marksmanship Club Akademac.

Cadet Stevan Stojanovic, the judoist, who was declared the best athlete of the Serbian Armed Forces in 2010, says that his goal for this year is to defend the title and qualify for the World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro.
