Lieutenant General Miloje Miletic, Chief of General Staff, in his interview on the occasion of the National Day and the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, said that in every professional army the profession comes above any particular and personal interests. This is the essence of professionalism, and when it comes to the essence – there may be no compromise! We often have a superficial and incorrect understanding of the concept of democratic civilian control of the military. This does not mean that the Serbian Armed Forces has allowed the daily politics to influence its structure. On the contrary, the Serbian Armed Forces is depoliticized. On the one hand, the autonomy of the military profession has been established in relation to political power in the society, and on the other hand, the fact is that the Armed Forces is an institution that is not intended to be involved in politics.
The fifth international fair of arms and military equipment "Partner 2011" will be held at Belgrade Fair from 28 June to 1 July 2011. Sponsor of the event is the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, co-organiser is Jugoimport-SDPR, and the executive organiser is the Belgrade Fair.
The Day of the Media Center ODBRANA, 24 January, was marked. The process of reorganisation and rationalisation of the Ministry of Defence included the completion of the process of integrating the news and information and publishing activities in the defence system, said Lieutenant Slavoljub Markovic, the Director, adding that this move functionally linked the available human and material resources.
