Over 18000 people visited the exhibition of Sava Sumanovic paintings



The exhibition of Sava Sumanoviuc paintings, thew works of our most renowned 20 century painter, which lasted from 22 December 2010 to 29 January 2011 was visited by some 18000 people, fine art lovers

On the last day of there was a record number of 1,100 visitors of fine art lovers, with an average number of 500 people visiting the exhibition a day.

The exhibition was free and the funds collected from the accompanying catalog are intended for financing the restoration and conservation of work to the paintings of Sava Sumanovic series featuring floral motifs, which is owned by the Media Center's "Odbrana". The catalog is printed in two editions and over 1,800 copies were sold. A friend of the exhibition was the Delta Generali Insurance.

The organizers of the exhibition "Road to paintings" was the media center "Odbrana" and the gallery "Sava Sumanovic" from Sid. All images and templates that shown in the exhibition were created in the period frpm 1927 to 1942. The exhibition included 74 paintings and drawings, forming 35 pairs. Of these, 33 paintings were done in oil, and 41 are templates for the paintings in a variety of techniques.

The exhibition of paintings by Sava Sumanovic makes a new concept of the exhibition activities of the Media Center "Odbrana" and the dedication of the Central Militray Club Belgrade to organize exhibtions in cooperation with museums, galleries and legacies of our great art in Belgrade.

The preparation of the exhibition "The Serbian rulers and military leaders" is afoot which , on the occasion of the National Day and the Day of the Serbian Army,will be opened on 15 February.

The exhibition will feature the works of Uros Predic, Paja Jovanovic, Marko Murat, Uros Knezevic, Stevan Todorovic and other artists from the collection of the Military Museum.
