Ministry answers the delegated questions from the EU Commission Questionnaire

Ministry of Defence has finished answering questions from the questionnaire of the European Commission under its jurisdiction. This will be the first time that a detailed analysis of the defense system of Serbia has been submitted to the European Commission.

Answering the questions of the EC Questionnaire was the task of a subgroup of the Expert Group of the Coordinating Body for the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Defence.

After receiving the questionnaire on 24 November 2010, the subgroup of the Expert Group divided the questions by institutions so that a competent institution is determined for each question, appointed as the coordinator for this question.

Ministry of Defence has been designated as to answer 7 questions from the European Commission’s Questionnaire, and has submitted their proposals for the 46 questions pertaining to the participation in EU defense policy, regional cooperation, defense industry, countering terrorism, cooperation in emergency situations, the position of employees and defense system, the procurement process and the like.

The whole process of coordinating responses is done by the Office for European Integrations of the Republic of Serbia according to a predetermined schedule. It is anticipated that the answers to complete questionnaire will be adopted by the Government on 31 January 2011 and submit it to the European Commission. Based on the answers to 2500 questions in the questionnaire, the Commission will assess whether Serbia is ready to become a candidate for EU membership.
