Informing the members of the defense system



Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac held today a briefing for the defense system members which was attended by Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen Miloje Miletic, State Secretaries in the Ministry of Defence and the top officers of the Army of Serbia. It was, a traditional opportunity for the top man of the defense system point out the main results at the end of the year and present the main tasks for the future.

Sutanovac emphasized the reforms which, as he said, can never be fully completed. He stressed the importance of new laws and regulations, professionalization of the Army and a new and more efficient organization of the Ministry of Defence. The Minister also announced the structure of the defense budget and the prospects for its development.

Furthermore, Sutanovac stressed the importance of international military cooperation in terms of cooperation with the European Union, cooperation with NATO within the Partnership for Peace, regional initiatives, international agreements and participation of our members in peacekeeping missions. The Minister also reminded the top personnel of the defense system of numerous exercises at home and abroad in which SAF members participated successfully.

He said the main results in the area of human and material resources achieved by the Ministry in 2010. The Minister also recalled issue of research and development, military education and health, implementation of the Master Plan and Public Relations, that is, the promotion of the Serbian military among the citizens.

Serbian Minister of Defense also pointed out the main requirements and tasks that the system is expected to perform during 2011 where, among other things, would be the following: efficient disposal of the budget, acquisition of new uniforms and weapons and equipment, and greater involvement in peacekeeping missions.
