State Secretary Miscevic gave a lecture in the Czech Embassy



State Secretary, Ministry of Defence Prof. Dr. Tanja Miscevic spoke tonight at a lecture, titled "The Euro-Atlantic Forum Prague - Belgrade organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic. The meeting focused on discussion of the experiences of Euro-Atlantic integration of Serbia and the Czech Republic, with special emphasis on defense reform in these countries, with key speakers Czech Ambassador to Serbia Hana Hubackova, Ivan Dvorak with the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, and director of the Association for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation "Jage 2000 "Zbigniew Plavcik.

The audience was first addressed by Ambassador Hubackova noting that the last year has been extremely successful in Serbia when it comes to Euro-Atlantic integrations, pointing out that Serbia has full support from the Czech Republic in this endeavor.

During the presentation of Serbia’s prospects regarding the Euro-Atlantic Integrations, State Secretary Miscevic stressed that in the course of answering the questionnaire sent by the European Commission an EU official instrument that assesses the readiness of states to begin the process of accession to the EU. She also noted the importance of regional cooperation achieved, as well as cooperation with the NATO in order to achieve full interoperability, while also stressing that political consensus is necessary for joining this alliance.

Secretary of State Miscevic commented on aspects of the professionalization of the army, emphasizing that some foreign armies have asked about the solutions implemented in the process of professionalization of our military , adding that another indicator of the success of this process is the fact that the Serbian Army is an institution Serbian citizens trust the most.

The representative of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic Ivan Dvorak spoke about the experiences of professionalization of the Czech military, stressing that the economic crisis which affected the military budget has forced the Czech army to redefine the priorities in the process. Today, ten years after the beginning of reforms in the security system, he says, we can see positive results of investments and efforts made in a professional army.

Speaking about relations between the state and the nongovernmental sector in the Euro-Atlantic integration, director of the Association for Euro-Atlantic cooperation, "Jage 2000" Zbigniew Plavcik said that mutual cooperation is necessary in order to make progress in the course of this process.

The Czech Embassy in Belgrade is also the NATO contact point for Serbia.
