Diplomacy and Military book launch



In the Great Hall of the Media Center's "ODBRANA" a book launch "Diplomacy and Military" by Dr. Mile Bjelajac was held last night, which was presented to the reading public at this year's Book Fair. Publishers of the book are the Media Center "ODBRANA" and the Belgrade Academy of Diplomacy and Security.

The present guests were first welcomed by the director of the Media Center's "ODBRANA" Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic and chief editor of the publishing affairs, Dragana Markovic, representing an institution formed earlier this year and its publishing.

In his opening words about the book, a retired general and professor of the Academy for Diplomacy and Security Dr. Branko Krga, said that "diplomacy and military institutions are of special national importance, which had a major impact on the fate of Serbia in the century is over, some of which the people rightly expect to protect them, especially in times of any at the time was to spare ", stressing that in this task and had both success and failures.

Lawyer, historian and diplomat Cedomir Strbac, speaking about the book said that it is important because it points to issues where there is pronounced interaction of diplomacy and military, and in his depiction of events he relied on archives and records memoir building its principle.

The question of reading our history should be taken very seriously, said Professor Faculty of Political Science Dr. Predrag Simic in his discussion of prof. Bjelajac’s work, assessing that the past should be taken as a guideline of the times we live in, and often for the future.

Author Dr. Mile Bjelajac, welcoming guests and associates, expressed satisfaction that this launch has fathered people of different generations and attitudes, but that they all share a connection with the country they live in. He pointed out that "Diplomacy and the Military" was written in order to contribute to the political culture in this area, because, he said, the civil part of society lacks systematic understanding and experience of these areas.

"In the previous century, we went through different ideological stages," emphasized Dr. Bjelajac, "but some constants are read over the years."

Book of Dr. Mile Bjelajac, who is a research advisor of the Institute for Recent History of Serbia, is his latest work in a series of papers on the army, an area that is the focus of his scientific interests. In the nine chapters, Dr. Bjelajac describes, analyzes and interprets the interdependence of diplomacy and military factors in our region from 1901 to 1999 year. Excellent knowledge of modern historical material, the author makes reference to the important issues of Serbian and Yugoslav history, offering politically relevant conclusions and reflections on the problems facing the contemporary politics of our country.
