SAF CHOD visits Kraljevo



Serbian Army Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletic, today, accompanied by the army commander of the army Lt. Gen. Dikovic and Air Force Brigadier General Ranko Zivak, visited the garrison units in Kraljevo. The aim of the tour was to get an insight of the operational units' capabilities in the garrison, and the degree of rehabilitation of the facilities damaged by the earthquake which struck Kraljevo.

"We have reasons to be satisfied, because according to the polls, the people of Serbia have said that the institution they trust most is SAF, which is a great recognition for what we have done and obliges us to continue in that direction. We are well on the track to realize the professionalization of the Army until the New Year "- said Lieutenant General Miletic in Kraljevo.

Chief of Staff General Miletic paid tribute to the second army brigade and other units of the Kraljevo garrison for efforts invested to provide relief of the consequences of a devastating earthquake. He pointed out that this was done in addition to performing regular tasks, for example the execution of engineering works on Pester plain.

During his stay in Kraljevo garrison, General Miletic toured barracks Ribnica and" Jovan Kursula as well as Ladjevci airport. Commander of the 2nd Brigade of the Army Brigadier General Dusan Stojanovic informed the Chief of the status of objects used by the brigade. It is estimated that damage to these facilities has reached 131.4 million RSD .

A total of 933 members of the Serbian Army have taken part in eliminating the consequences of earthquakes in Kraljevo. 15 teams were formed and engaged in clearing the rubble of private houses. Activities are coordinated with the Emergency Management HQ, at whose request the Department of Public Health has been moved to a safe location. The Serbian Army has given its contribution to the transport of construction materials, so for example, it has transported more than a million tiles. The soldiers involved in the transport also distributed packages of humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable members of population and helped by supplying water from a water tanks.

Chief of Staff has shown particular interest in the members of the Army whose homes have been damaged. A total of 121 member of the 2nd Army Brigade and 7 members of 98 aviation had their homes damaged.

At the airport Ladjevci, the Chief of Staff was hosted by the commander of the 98th aviation base Colonel Dejan Joksimovic. According to him, the damage from the earthquake at the airport is not as extensive as in the city, and the Air Force could continue to perform their regular tasks, while being at the deposal for possible engagement.
