Regional center for English learning opened in Krusevac



In the Center for training of NBC staff in Krusevac, a Regional Center for Independent English Learning was opened today. The cabinet is equipped with modern IT and multimedia equipment and the donation, where this donation was through PELT program, provided by the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the British Council.

The opening the center in the barracks "Prince Lazar" was attended, in addition to the command of NBC personnel specialization center by Acting Assistant Minister for Human Resources, Brigadier General Sladjan Djordjevic, Chief of the Training and Doctrine Command J-7 of the General Staff, Major General Peter Cornakov as well as the representatives of embassies of donor countries and members of the British Council.

Brigadier General Sladjan Djordjevic emphasized the importance of learning English in the context of raising the overall operational capabilities of the Army of Serbia and the commitment of the entire defense system to the professionalisation process and increasing the number of participants in peace support operations outside the country.

The Agency for International Language Coordination and experts in military English in the project "English in peace support operations" has declared the PELT program as one of the most successful programs in the region, so we can say that this is the result of our joint efforts - and countries MO partner - said General Djordjevic.

The Defence Attaché of the Netherlands, Lieutenant Colonel Ben Steinbach, speaking on behalf of donor countries, stressed the importance of learning English as a prerequisite for international military cooperation, in particular, a more intensive involvement of Serbia in the Partnership for Peace. On this occasion he welcomed the recent statement of Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac on the inclusion of the Serbian Armed Forces in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the European Union.

Lt. Gen. Cornakov and Colonel Steinbach marked the opening of the center by cutting a ribbon .
The guests from donor countries continued their visit by touring the facilities of the Center for NBC personnel specialization and of sights of the city.
