Minister of Defense at the Security Forum in Halifax, Canada
Minister of defense Dragan Sutanovac is taking part in the Security Forum hosted by the Canadian Government and German Marshall Fund in Halifax, CanadaThe Security Forum in Halifax is one of top three most important conferences where global security issues are discussed, as well as ways and instruments to respond to possible security threats. More than 400 participants from 39 countries are participating in the forum, including a large number of Defense Ministers, Foreign Affairs Ministers, State Secretaries and the representatives of the civilian sector, institutes and universities as institutions vital for forming the key positions of main decision-makers.
Minister Sutanovac took part in the plenary session of the Forum on current challenges, risks, threats and gave an expose in the panel discussion dedicated to the security issues of the Western Balkans together with the representatives of Croatia and Montenegro.
Behind the scenes of the forum, minister Sutanovac had meetings with the Canadian minister of defense Mr. Peter McKay, Minister of Defense of Denmark Mrs. Bech, Minister of Defense of Albania Mr. Imami, Under Secretary for Defense Policy Mrs. Michele Flurnoy, and the State Secretary of the German Ministry of Defense Mr. Schmidt.During the talks Minister Sutanovac informed his interlocutors of the reforms carried out in the defense system of Serbia, the finalization of the professionalization process, future plans, especially as regards Serbia in terms of regional security, as well as the continuation and promotion of bilateral cooperation with these states.
