Minister in Libya

Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac paid yesterday a working visit to Libya where he met with the Prime Minister of Libya Ali Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi and the minister of defense and commander in chief of Libya's armed forces Major General Abu Bakr Younis Jaber.

The main topic of discussion was the military-economic cooperation as well as opportunities for improvement and development of cooperation.

During the meeting with the Defense Minister, the importance of cooperation in military education, training and development, primarily the education of the Libyan cadets at the Military Academy in Belgrade was emphasized.

After the meeting with the Libyan officials, both sides concluded that there was much room for cooperation between the two countries not only in the field of military cooperation and defense industry.

In June this year, Minister Sutamnovac led a delegation of the Ministry of Defence, which had for the first time in the last 25 years paid an official visit to Libya. On that occasion, the two ministers signed an agreement on military-technical cooperation between the two countries.

Serbia and Libya have had a long tradition of friendly relations and successful cooperation and will continue in the future to cooperate.
