Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac led a delegation of the Ministry of Defence at the round table "State of Europe - Difficult Issues for the European Union, of the EU Military Committee, where he introduced the reforms in the defense and expressed belief that Serbia has the capacity to appear in these missions, primarily in medical, but also in other teams.

During a visit to Oslo Sutanovac said that Norway supports the defense system of Serbia and is ready to develop a civil-military cooperation and joint participation in peacekeeping missions.

In an interview with Professor Tanja Miscevic, Defense Minister’s Advisor for the European Integration and International Cooperation, said World War II brought the realization that economic interests should be shifted and placed above the national level and that the joint institutions, as a common creation, should control these interests. This is the basis for economic progress, and security integrations, because decision makes any war between the European countries implausible

During his visit to the Serbian MoD, Minister of Defence of Namibia has shown interest in the field of military health care, where Serbia has the capacity to offer training and eventually build a hospital in Namibia, including pilot training, engineering and cooperation in the defense industry, and the sharing of experience in participating in peacekeeping missions.

Welcoming the Chief of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Miloje Miletic, Chief of the Army of Serbia, said that in recent years, the military relations between Russia and Serbia were not as good as the development of relations in other areas and he expects the visit of General Makarov to give a new tone to the military cooperation between the two countries and contribute to their stronger connection.

The exercise included the planning and responses to crisis situations in the domain of the third mission of the Army of Serbia, which involves assisting civilian structures in the event of natural disasters and accidents.

Relying on principles defined at the beginning of the project and the experience of previous generations of students, this year, the fourth cycle of English courses offers to the members of the Serbian Army an opportunity learn this language, because it will soon become one of the criteria for promotion.

Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army have just started participation in the peacekeeping mission to the United Nations in Cyprus. In the absence of a political solution to the problem of the island, the mission UNIFICYP has for more than four decades of monitoring cease-fire line on the island, maintains a buffer zone and undertakes humanitarian activities thus helping the mission of the Secretary General. Meanwhile, the Republic of Cyprus in 2004 joined the EU as whole territory, and one third of the island, which is controlled by the Turkish Cypriots, under the name the Republic of Northern Cyprus, is still under the embargo posed by the international community.

The arrival of six planes "Galeb G-4" from Montenegro to the Serbian Army Air Force will be a welcome boost to the number of air crafts. However, these planes will have to undergo general overhaul first and only then will they be sent to a unit, but judging by speedy revival of repairing institutions, the Air Force is counting on rapid restoration of technical resources.

The Media Centre has opened a competition for a reporter’s prize "Ivan Markovic" for 2010 and has initiated the selection of best athletes and sports teams of the Army of Serbia.
