SAF CHOD visits the Montenegrin army

The Chief of the Serbian Army Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletic, at the invitation of Chief of the Army of Montenegro Vice Admiral Dragan Samardzic, paid the first official visit to the Army of Montenegro.

The two army chiefs after a meeting in Podgorica, expressed satisfaction with the degree of bilateral military cooperation and agreed that what has been achieved is a solid foundation for the further advancement of that cooperation.

General Miletic said that Serbia and Montenegro have an active role in various regional forums and other forms of cooperation, such as regional initiatives of the Cooperation Process of Defense Ministers of Southeast Europe (SEDM), the US-Adriatic Charter and the Conference of army chiefs of the Balkan countries.

- In this way we express our firm commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and to giving our contribution to strengthening security in the region - said the General Miletic.

Intensive cooperation between the armies of the two neighboring countries is also reflected in the support Montenegro gave to Serbia regarding the candidacy of the NBC Center in Krusevac for a pivotal role of the regional level. Serbia supported the candidacy of Montenegro for the formation of a regional center for training helicopter pilots.

Serbian Army Chief of Staff added that the focus of cooperation in the future would be a joint training program that, in addition to training personnel NBC, may include other specialties, such as for example, parachutists and divers.

Vice Admiral Samardzic said that the Army of Montenegro was very interested to continue with educating its members in Serbia. According to him, there is still much room for development of mutual cooperation in several areas, from training through the military medical and military economy cooperation, which will be the focus of future work
