Protocol on HIV prevention signed with the US army

The Chief of the Military Medical Academy Major General Miodrag Jefti? signed today a Protocol on Cooperation in the field of HIV prevention with the defense Attaché accredited in Serbia Colonel Paul Broc?ni.

The U.S. Department of Defense granted a 74,500 U.S. USD worth donation intended for the fight against this terrible illness and the continuation of a successful long-term cooperation with the Ministry of Defense.

Donated funds will be included in the existing successful activities of our military health system on prevention of HIV, through the purchase of laboratory equipment and other assistive devices, printing information flyers and continuing education of members of the defense system.

Chief of General MMA Jefti? thanked on this occasion the Ministry of Defense and said that the number of identified HIV cases in the Serbian Army is very small, which is primarily a concrete result of the efforts of medical workers who are implementing planned activities in the prevention of this disease:

- Today's donation is a continuation of a long-standing cooperation between our armed forces to combat this still incurable and serious disease which we are trying to root out, above all, through preventive work. Proactive cooperation between our militaries and military medical corps in this area is carried out very successfully and the results are visible.

Colonel Paul Broc?ni stressed that cooperation and medical care reach beyond state boundaries and polices:

-We thanks Minister of Defense, Dragan Sutanovac and General Jefti? who together are helping us revive the existing cooperation. We are recognizing how important and prestigious MMA is, both in the region and beyond and their knowledge and experience, therefore we want to share our experiences both today and in the future. Today's donation is a symbol and a small part of a much deeper and more substantial cooperation.

The distribution of promotional materials funded this year's grant funds will be carried out during the implementation of accredited study programs to be performed by professors of the Military Medical Academy in military health care institutions in the organization of the Ministry of Defence.
