The content-rich System section opens with a report on the recently completed tactical live-fire exercise Victor 2026. It is followed by coverage of the firing exercises conducted by a T-72M tank battalion and the professional personnel of the Fourth Army Brigade’s 46th Tank Battalion at the Pasuljanske Livade inter-service military training ground. The past month was also marked by several expert conferences, covered in articles dedicated to the International Scientific Conference on Defence Technologies – OTEH and the Eighth Expert Conference on the Safety of Military Road Users. In addition to a feature on intensive international cooperation, we recommend an article on the 175-year tradition of the military veterinary service, made up of personnel characterised by great expertise, strong sense of responsibility, excellent training and professional dedication.
This issue of Odbrana reports on the Defence University’s key scientific research achievements, as well as on a medical research project conducted at the Military Medical Academy. In the Scientific Research section, read about how professors and teaching assistants at the Military Academy’s Department of Social Sciences view new generations of cadets and their sets of values. You can also learn more about a project carried out at the Military Medical Academy - Infectious Diseases as a Current Public Health Problem: Prevention, Diagnostics, and Treatment.
The Tradition section covers the premiere of a documentary - Priština Corps – Our Fatherland Commands Us, held at the Military Club in Niš in mid-October. The documentary is dedicated to all members of the Priština Corps and the sacrifices made by this unit during the defence of the homeland in Kosovo and Metohija in 1998 and 1999. The November issue of Odbrana also covers cultural events - two exhibitions opened at the Central Military Club in Belgrade, one dedicated to the life and work of Dimitrije Tucović and the other to the Art Colony at Staro Sajmište, namely the collection belonging to collector Rajko Mamuzović.
Our regular contributor, Marijana T. Mraović, introduces us to the period of time when the armistice was signed in the First World War. It was a time when the Kingdom of Serbia, as a victorious nation, found itself participating in the creation of a new, large state, viewed by the victorious bloc as a useful geopolitical project that would serve as a stabilising factor in the Balkan Peninsula.
As in previous years, Media Centre “Odbrana” had its stand at this year’s 69th International Belgrade Book Fair, where the latest publications of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces were presented.
