Minister Gašić attends boxing equipment handover ceremony at 63rd Parachute Brigade

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended a handover ceremony at the Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović Barracks in Niš today, where a boxing ring and equipment donated by the Serbian Boxing Federation was handed over to the 63rd Parachute Brigade.
The donation was handed over by Nenad Borovčanin, the federation president.

At the event, Minister Gašić noted that cooperation between Serbian Armed Forces units and sports clubs and associations plays a key role in enhancing service members’ capabilities and promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Physical fitness, endurance, and discipline are vital for our special operations units. Cooperation with sports clubs and associations allows our service personnel to master martial arts and other skills and exchange invaluable experience, which enhances their readiness for complex tasks. It is important that we use these forms of cooperation to promote sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles, because healthy, capable and motivated service members are the backbone of a strong military – said the Minister of Defence.
Brigadier General Aleksandar Stupar, the unit commander, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Serbian Boxing Federation, in recognition of their support for the 63rd Parachute Brigade.

During the event, unit members demonstrated elements of their hand-to-hand combat training, which includes multiple levels and uses disciplines like boxing, Krav Maga, and judo, required for the successful execution of specialised tasks.
Minister Gašić also visited the 63rd Parachute Brigade’s Memorial Room and signed its visitors’ book.
