82nd anniversary of Belgrade liberation in World War II

A delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid wreaths today at the Belgrade Liberators Cemetery, in a state ceremony commemorating the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of the capital in the Second World War.
The state ceremony commemorating Belgrade Liberation Day was headed by the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Affairs, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, a delegation from the Training Command laid wreaths at the Liberators of Belgrade Memorial and the Red Army Soldier Monument, and paid their respects at the Eternal Flame Monument.
In the presence of numerous visitors and representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Serbian Armed Forces’ Guard Orchestra played the national anthem, as well as the anthems of post-Soviet states whose service members had participated in the liberation of Belgrade.

Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the City of Belgrade, embassies, and veterans’ associations committed to fostering liberation war traditions.
Members of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia, supported by the Red Army, liberated Belgrade on October 20, 1944, ending the four-year German occupation of the city.
