Minister Gašić: Serbian Armed Forces gain new accommodation facilities at Pasuljanske Livade after 27 years
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić today inspected the construction site of new accommodation facilities for members of the Serbian Armed Forces at the Pasuljanske Livade training area that are being built 27 years after the original facilities were destroyed in the 1999 NATO aggression.
During the inspection, the Minister of Defence stated that investing in military infrastructure and training facilities is an important component of care for members of the Serbian Armed Forces, stressing that adequate accommodation and rest facilities are an inseparable part of successful training.- After 27 years, the Pasuljanske Livade training area will get modern accommodation containers, which is a major step forward in improving living and working conditions for service personnel. Until now, they have been housed in tents. By constructing these modern accommodation facilities, we are proving that, in addition to continuously improving training and strengthening operational capabilities, we place particular focus on our service members who carry out highly complex tasks under all weather and terrain conditions. Our goal is to ensure that all members of the Serbian Armed Forces who use this training are, including conscripts and cadets, have adequate space for living, relaxation and preparation for training, equal or better than that available to service personnel in the most developed countries – the Minister of Defence stressed.
He noted that the welfare of every service member is the state’s top priority, which is confirmed by continuous investment in the modernisation of military infrastructure and the improvement of living standards.New facilities are designed to accommodate members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces during exercises and field trainings at the Pasuljanske Livade military complex. As part of the project, two container blocks will be built – an accommodation block and a kitchen and dining block. The accommodation block is a two-storey facility comprising dormitories, a corridor, bathrooms, and other ancillary spaces, whilst the kitchen and dining block is designed as a single-storey facility.
Minister Gašić was accompanied on today’s tour by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Mile Jelić, and the Head of the Infrastructure Department, Lieutenant Colonel Miloš Peruničić.
