MOD and SAF delegation in Kragujevac



MoD and SAF delegation led by Brig. Gen. Sladjan Djordjevic attended a traditional peace manifestation marking the shooting of Kragujevac students on 21 October 1941.

On behalf of MoD and SAG Brig. Gen. Djordjevic laid a commemorative wreath at the tomb erected to commemorate all those students and their teachers shot on that day.
This year’s commemorative class, marking 69th anniversary of shooting civilians by the Nazi troops, was marked by performing a poem “A shot city”, of the Italian poet Ana Santoliquido, while the Ambassador of Italy to Serbia Armando Varkiio and a memorial service in honor of victims served by the bishop of Sumadija Jovan.


On 21 October 1941 as a way of retribution for the activities of the resistance which killed 10 and wounded 26 soldiers of the German Wermacht shot 2796 civilians from Kragujevac and the surrounding villages, including 300 students and teachers of the First Kragujevac Grammar School.
