New issue of Odbrana released
The October issue of Odbrana magazine contains several interesting articles on the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
Read all about the first phase of the Joint Tactical Live-Fire Exercise Victor 2026, conducted at the Pešter temporary training area near Sjenica.On the occasion of 110 years of the Telecommunications Service, Major General Mile Vitezović, Head of the Telecommunications and IT Directorate of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, gave Odbrana an interview.
We have also prepared special features ahead of Third Army Brigade Day (October 7) and Armoured Units Day (October 31). The commander of the Third Brigade, which proudly continues the tradition of the Second Infantry Regiment “Knjaz Mihailo”, aka “Iron regiment”, battalion commanders and unit members have spoken to Odbrana about the goals achieved, the latest news and routine tasks of their brigade.
This issue also presents the Technical Overhaul Institute “Čačak”, the principal maintenance facility for the Serbian Armed Forces materiel, which celebrated its 101st anniversary on September 30. Another article you should not miss is our feature on a military multi-event parachuting competition.
The Tradition section features three articles. The first one is dedicated to the commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of Operation Halyard in Pranjani. The operation was one of the largest rescue missions in the Second World War during which downed Allied airmen were airlifted from behind enemy lines. The second article marks the fifth anniversary of the Association of Veterans of Security Authorities and the Military Police of Serbia, while the third looks at a special jubilee of the Military Academy’s 44th and 44thA classes, who were commissioned on July 20, 1991.
In the History section, read all about the final operations of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia from 1944 to 1945, namely, the battles to liberate Belgrade and Serbia.
The Culture section highlights a new exhibition at the Central Military Club dedicated to the alliance between the Kingdom of Serbia and the United States of America during the Great War.
