Meeting between Chief of General Staff and KFOR Commander
The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, received a farewell visit from the KFOR Commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, today. General Ulutaş is handing over the command of the International Security Force in Kosovo and Metohija in mid-October.
The meeting focused on the current security situation in the Province and the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR in maintaining peace and security in Serbia’s southern province, while also reviewing the results achieved and challenges encountered during General Ulutaş’s one-year tenure.Noting that the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija remains delicate, with Serbs not feeling safe in the Province, the Chief of the General Staff highlighted the responsibility of KFOR - the only legitimate armed force in the Province under UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Military-Technical Agreement - to ensure a peaceful and secure environment and to protect primarily the Serbian people and their religious, cultural, and historical heritage in the Province. He thanked General Ulutaş for his professionalism and cooperation and wished him success in his new duties.
The new commander of the International Force in Kosovo and Metohija will be Italian Major General Roberto Vergori.
