Modern facility for Serbian Armed Forces personnel in Pančevo

Members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade have been provided with a fully refurbished facility at the Rastko Nemanjić Barracks in Pančevo, a major upgrade to their living and working conditions.
Investing in defence infrastructure and modernisation of facilities for service personnel remains a key priority for the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. In line with this, the two-floor facility in Pančevo barracks, designed for accommodation, instruction, and daily duties for both recruits undertaking their military service and professional unit personnel, has been fully renovated and adapted.

Built in the 1970s, the 1,450-square-metre building had not undergone any major work until now.
Renovation work began in late 2025 and was completed on schedule. It included a full renovation of the interior, roof replacement, installation of new windows fitted with thermal insulation glass and insect screens, and replacement of exterior and interior doors. A full façade restoration was also carried out, quadrupling the building’s energy efficiency.
In terms of technology, the building has been fully adapted to suit its purpose and modern standards. Electrical wiring, lightning protection, and fire safety systems have been fully upgraded, and new plumbing, drainage, and hydrants have been installed. Rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with telephone, cable TV, and internet, and are currently being outfitted with brand new furniture.
This and similar projects are part of a continuous effort to improve the defence system’s infrastructure and the environment in which professional service members live and carry out their duties, and to provide better living and training conditions for soldiers undertaking their military service.
