New generation of Serbian Armed Forces non-commissioned officers inducted
A military ceremony was held today at the People’s Hero Stevica Jovanović Barracks in Pančevo to mark the graduation of the 4th class of Non-Commissioned Officer Course participants and their promotion to sergeants.
The ceremony was attended by the Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Budget and Finance, Goran Momčilović, members of the collegium of the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, representatives of Serbian Armed Forces units, the Serbian Orthodox Church, and local government, as well as relatives and friends of the newly inducted non-commissioned officers.Addressing the newly inducted sergeants, Brigadier General Dragiša Zlatković, Commander of the Training Command, emphasised that the Serbian Armed Forces were getting a new generation of non-commissioned officers ready to take on responsibility, lead by example, and serve as a pillar of support for their units and soldiers. He stressed that behind the class's success lay the dedication and perseverance of the course participants, the hard work of their instructors and superiors, and the support of their families.
- An NCO rank is not just a part of the uniform. It represents trust, trust that you will be a pillar of support for your soldiers, that you will train, guide, and educate them, and that you will demand that they be disciplined, while demonstrating by example precisely what that discipline means – General Zlatković stated. At the ceremony, the top-performing course participants were presented with awards. Sergeant Marko Marjanović graduated top of the class, followed by Sergeants Nikola Mitrović and Maja Dinić. By decision of the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, the awardees were presented with non-commissioned officer dussacks, which were handed to them by the Commander of the Training Command.
Addressing those present on behalf of his class, Sergeant Marko Marjanović highlighted that, in addition to acquiring knowledge and military skills during the course, they had learned how important unity, mutual trust, and leading by example were to the military calling. He expressed his gratitude to all those who had supported them and noted that their key takeaway from the course, alongside new friendships and experience, was that they were obligated to apply the acquired knowledge in their professional military service.- Let honour be our foundation, discipline our cornerstone, knowledge our strength, and unity our shield, for the strength of a military does not depend on a single individual, but on every individual in its ranks – Sergeant Marjanović stated.
The Non-Commissioned Officer Course for civilian candidates lasts six months and comprises three modules. The participants completed their basic military training at the Sergeant Milunka Savić Non-Commissioned Officer Training Centre in Pančevo, and individual and specialist training at different Serbian Armed Forces training centres and units. They trained to use weapons and military equipment, and prepared for their initial command and instructor duties within their respective branches and services.
